The Joshua Chamberlain Society Nashville Gala is a military-inspired evening to benefit the Joshua Chamberlain Society's effort to provide aid for severely combat injured military service members and the families of killed-in-action members of our military. The evening will honor our current JCS Heroes while raising funds that will allow us to support additional Heroes.

The gala will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Richland Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane, Nashville from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. The evening event will include silent and live auctions, a seated dinner, and open bar.

Keynote Speaker: Kyle White

On Nov. 8, 2007, members of 1st Platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, headquartered at Combat Outpost Bella, prepared for movement to the village of Aranas, Afghanistan, for a Shura meeting with village elders. There had been little communication with the village after their suspected collusion on a major attack months earlier on Combat Outpost Ranch House - a former American post situated on the mountain overlooking the large village, that resulted in eleven wounded and the closure of the outpost.

The next day, sensing trouble, the team abandoned the meeting only to be ambushed shortly afterwards.  After more than four hours, a three-pronged attack on Chosen Company ended with the loss of six American lives, and many wounded. Spc. Kyle White exhibited extraordinary personal bravery distinguishing himself above his comrades. He took charge of his element, arranged security and provided critical aid to wounded Soldiers in terrain that provided very little cover or concealment. White exhibited extraordinary disregard for his own safety by exposing himself numerous times to effective and accurate fire, providing aid to two coalition Soldiers, despite being wounded himself - saving the life of one Soldier. His ability to take command and control of the situation and render critical situation reports to his higher command also enabled Close Air Support and Close Combat Air to disrupt the enemy attack, allowing for the successful evacuation of all wounded and fallen personnel from his location.

Kyle was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in Aranas, Afghanistan on November 9, 2007.

The Joshua Chamberlain Society is unlike any other veterans organization. We're a 501 (c) 3 federally tax exempt charity and our mission is to make wounded veterans and families of deceased veterans feel the support and appreciation of their community for life.

With the help of generous donors, JCS "adopts" severely wounded veterans - those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, lost a limb or multiple limbs, or both - as well as the families of those service members who sacrificed their lives in service to our country. JCS provides real, tangible support for these individuals and families not only in the present, but also five, ten, twenty or more years down the line. Years from now, they will still feel the support of a community grateful for their sacrifices.

Their sacrifice is permanent - so is our support.
